Session 25: Metaverse and Web 3

Session 25: The Future of Web 3 and the Metaverse

Tuesday, December 13, 2022 – 12-1:00p EST

Led by Joe Weaver – Spatial Computing Specialist SA – Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Web3 is the newest version of the internet. That sounds huge, and it is, but the internet isn’t being uninstalled and replaced with a new version. Rather, it’s about adding to what we already use. And don’t worry if you’re confused about AR vs. VR, you love VR or you hate them both—there will be something for everyone. Web3 will eventually shape what the metaverse is and how we shop (AI may pick out the best VR headsets for us, for example) and will keep our data more secure.

In the metaverse, users traverse a virtual world that mimics aspects of the physical world using such technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), AI, social media and digital currency. The internet is something that people “browse.” But, to a degree, people can “live” in the metaverse.Oct 3, 2022

Join this session to hear Joe Weaver’s thoughts on where the industries are today, and when ready, how these advancements in technology will impact our work and personal lives.

Session 20: UAV and DroneUp

June 21, 2022 – 12-1:00p EST

Speaker: Tom Walker – DroneUp

https://www.droneup.com/

In modern times, drones seem to be on everybody’s mind. From the military use of drones overseas to services that deliver domestic packages with drones, these flying machines have proven their worth. However, many people are still confused by drones and their purpose.  A commercial drone is a quadcopter, octocopter, hexacopter, or other multi-rotor craft that is used for commercial purposes rather than personal or recreational use.

DroneUp (founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA) is an American technology company that combines airspace solutions, software applications, analytics platforms, and a trusted team of industry leaders to help companies operate at scale with drone innovation

In 2021, DroneUp received a significant investment from the #1 retailer in the world, Walmart, Inc.

Attend this session to learn about how DroneUp has captured some of the delivery space for Walmart, as well as various public services across the country.
